The rolling stones
tattoo yourself (Rolling Stones)
Blondshell rolls with the stones: Los Angeles-based project Sabrina Teitelbaum aka Blondshell spoke to us about her love for a Stones gem.
Sabrina Teitelbaum: The first time I fell in love with the Rolling Stones was watching them perform live on their 2005 A Bigger Bang tour.
The second time is when I heard tattoo yourself. I grew up with classic rock at home, but it was mostly the hits. I knew “Start Me Up”, so when I found the full album downloaded on my parents’ iPod, I decided to listen to it.
This album has been a musical mainstay for me for 15 years and evokes a lot of nostalgia, but that’s not why I still love it.
I keep coming back to these songs because the guitar sounds sort of sound like vocals, Mick Jagger’s delivery gives me more confidence walking around, and because these songs show the really romantic, intimate, author- composer of the biggest rock band in the world.
Blondshell rolls with the stones: Blondshell’s “Kiss City” is out now. She plays at the Lodge Room on Wednesday September 7th with Porridge Radio.
