Although growth stocks have lost their chance in 2022, growth stock investors continue to follow value investors on Twitter and Stocktwits, but it is value investors who have the last word as many value stocks remain burning in the new year.

The “boring” actions are where they are. How have some of the value stocks that have been covered by the Value Investor podcast over the past year held up this year?

5 hot value stocks

1. Comerica CMA

Comerica is a regional bank headquartered in Texas but with operations in several states, including Michigan.

Comerica has been featured on the Value Investor podcast several times over the past year as its Zacks ranking has remained high.

Over the past year, stocks are up 58% compared to just 17% for the S&P 500 and 3% for the NASDAQ.

Like many banks, Comerica pays a dividend, which currently yields 2.7%.

Is Comerica too hot to handle these highs?

2. MetLife, Inc. MET

MetLife is a financial services company that operates in insurance, employee benefits and asset management. It has a market cap of $58 billion.

MetLife shares are up 29.8% year over year, easily beating the S&P 500 and NASDAQ.

Yet MetLife shares are still cheap with a forward P/E of 9.5.

It also pays a handsome dividend, currently yielding 2.7%.

Should value investors keep MetLife on their shortlist?

3. Mosaic MOS Company

Mosaic manufactures phosphate and potash based crop nutrients. Potash fertilizer prices have hit multi-year highs this year.

Mosaic shares have soared, rising 54.5% over the past year and are now hitting new 52-week highs.

Yet Mosaic is still very cheap. It trades at just 5.1 times forward earnings.

Does Mosaic have more room to run?

4. The Andersons, Inc. ANDE

The Andersons is an agricultural company that operates in trading, ethanol and fertilizers. His business group operates grain elevators in the United States.

Andersons shares have also risen sharply over the past year, gaining 44.6% over that period.

Equities are still attractively valued, with a forward P/E of 16.7.

The Andersons also pay a dividend, returning 1.9%.

Are the Andersons too hot to handle?

5. Diamondback Energy FANG

Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and gas company operating in the Permian Basin. It has a market cap of $23 billion.

Diamondback Energy shares have fallen over the past year as WTI crude surged above $90 a barrel. The shares rose 80% during this period.

Yet Diamondback Energy remains cheap, with a forward P/E of just 6.6 as earnings soar.

Is it too late to enter Diamondback Energy in 2022?

What about valuable industries that are NOT in vogue?

Some valuable industries were hot in 2021, but are no longer hot today. Are these actions still values or are they traps?

Tune into this week’s podcast to find out.
